Come ring in the New Year with your little ones! Join us at The Swarthmore Community Center for the annual “Count Down to Noon” party on December 31st from 10:30am – 12:00pm. There will be snacks and drinks provided, along with New Years themed activities, including stories, games, and crafts run by Miss Devon from the Swarthmore Public Library. After we count down to noon, the party will culminate in an exciting balloon drop!This event is geared towards ages 5 and under, but siblings are welcome. Tickets are $10 per family, pay at the door, but please RSVP in advance to email@example.com or on Facebook at SCC Playgroup’s Count Down to Noon event page.

Free 4 week Music and Movement class
This music-filled class celebrates the unique joys of your growing toddler. Each week your child will love singing, dancing, and playing instruments with you and his or her new friends. It will especially be fun and interesting for your little one because we will be using the theme “Go Go Go” where we will have fun as we chug along in the train, ride in the car, or float in the boat and there are many fun musical concepts to explore as we “Go Go Go.” In class, we we’ll also share tips and ideas for using music throughout the week.Please come join us and see for yourself how much fun learning can be using music.

The Swarthmore Community Center (SCC) is excited to partner with Cradles to Crayons in a borough wide collection. Cradles to Crayons is a local nonprofit organization that combats the effects of poverty faced by children in the Greater Philadelphia area. We will be collecting essential everyday items for disadvantaged children, ages 0-12, in support of their mission. A list of Cradles to Crayons most needed items can be found HERE.
Collection boxes will be placed in the following locations from April 27th-May 11th.

T. Bumble , Purchase a new toy, game or puzzle & donate in the collection bin in the store.
Representatives from the SCC will be located in front of Vickie’s at the Swarthmore Fun Fair on May 4th. We’ll be making birthday cards & selling tickets for a chance to win breakfast with Chief Craig at Vicky’s PLUS a ride with the chief in a police car! In addition, on May 9th we will host a Ladies Night Out Quizzo beginning at 7pm, with proceeds donated to Cradles to Crayons. Cash prize presented to the winning team!
Kitchen Wizards Cooking Camps
Mon., June 30 – Thurs., July 3 – 10-12:30 – no class on Tuesday – Chocolate, Chocolate, and MORE Chocolate
If your children are WILD about chocolate, THIS camp is for them! They’ll learn to prepare everything chocolate – candy, cookies, cake, pudding, pie – you name it! Ages 11-14
Mon., July 7 – Fri., July 11 – 10-noon – no class on Tuesday – Little Chefs/Beginning Cooking
Campers will enjoy kid-friendly favorites for budding chefs, including oven-baked chicken fingers, homemade pasta and meatballs and more! Each member of the family will enjoy these entrees when the kids make them at home. Ages 5-8
Mon., July 14 – Fri., July 18 – 10-noon – no class on Tuesday – Taste of Italy
Do your children LOOOOVVVVE Italian food? During this camp, they’ll prepare and eat a different Italian meal each week.This camp will be Mangia madness! Ages 7-12

Bricks4 Kidz Lego Camp
Remote control Mania
9:00am to 12:00pm July 14th – 18th 2014
Making it move is the name of the game at this exciting camp! See your creations in motion using LEGO® wireless remote controls. Each day, we will use fascinating and challenging LEGO® components to create dynamic vehicles, inventions, machines and more. While we have fun, we will also understand the basic working principles of many ingenious devices that are part of my daily life! We also learn how to magnify, diminish and redirect force to move objects at different speeds and in different directions.
This camp is absolute fun for all!!!
Tuition and Registration: Early registration Tuition cost is $175/week. Sibling discount of 10% available. Class size is limited.

Full Day Camp ($395.00) for ages 7-11
9am – 3:30pm July 21st – July 25th, 2014
Is it science or magic? You’ll find out! In our half day AM camp you’ll create erupting foam monsters, conduct amazing air pressure experiments, dig for hidden treasures, investigate the science of illusions and build spectroscopes to view the spectrum of different types of light.
If available at this location, stay for the full day (or half day PM session) where we’ll reveal many mysteries of science as we investigate creepy creatures, learn troll tricks, capture a rainbow in a bottle, make instant snow, mix up glowing slime and conduct lab tests on mystery substances.
